Hi Reader,
As we age, we are at an increased risk of numerous chronic health conditions, including osteoporosis.
This is particularly true for women - the decline of oestrogen women experience during menopause can accelerate bone loss, which is why 1 in 3 women over the age of 50 are effected by osteoporosis.
Luckily, exercise has been proven to not only help manage existing cases of osteoporosis and osteopenia, but with early intervention it can prevent and even reverse the effects of these conditions!
We've seen it ourselves with many clients who have come to us worried about the onset of declining bone density.
That's why we love seeing stories like Jacqui's.
When Jacqui first mentioned she wanted to work on improving her bone density, her coach got to work right away to craft her a resistance based program.
This initial focus on resistance training helped to increase her muscle mass and strength, both foundational elements for developing bone density. This was further complemented by a progression from low to higher-impact activities, to help promote bone growth and repair.
After some time working through her program, and some incredible hard work from Jacqui, her most recent bone density scan came back with her first ever improved T-score!
Check out what she had to say below:
We couldn't be more proud to of the incredible outcomes that Jacqui, and many others, have been able to achieve through strength training with us at Absolute.
